What is a scrape?
A whitetail deer scrape is a clear patch of ground that is usually about three-foot square and in the shape of a triangle and has an overhanging limb about five feet over the ground, this overhanging limb above it is called a licking branch. You can miss the scrape if you are not paying close attention to where you're walking.
What is a Rub?
A Rub occurs when a Whitetail Buck Rubs his antlers on tree limbs and bushes, they mark the area with its scent. During this time of the breeding season, the whitetail bucks are less wary of danger as they focus their time on does.
Why do deer spar?
When whitetail bucks don't have antlers to spar with, and whitetail does stand straight up on their hind legs and battle with razor-sharp hooves. Sparring will help establish dominance or hierarchy in the herd. Here the whitetail does will spare over food.
Presented by Mr. Don Bell
Inventor of Code Blue deer scent "One Deer One Bottle" and Top Secret deer scent "Oxygen Free". Mr. Don is considered one of America's foremost specialists when it comes to the scent of whitetail deer. Listen as Mr. Don takes you through the Rut, when the Rut starts, and when the peak of the Rut occurs. One of the best whitetail deer seminars I have ever attended. Hope you enjoy the video.
